WHO WE ARE

MARSIPEL - Industria de Curtumes, SA integrates in its industrial operations all the chain of production inherent to the process of transformation of the leather, from rawhide to Finishing, developing its activity in 2 manufacturing units, located in Alcanena that, together, occupy a covered area of over 20,000 m2.

With an annual finished leather production capacity of over 20 million square feet, Marsipel specializes in the production and marketing of bovine hides for the footwear and leather goods.

Quality and customer satisfaction are the top priorities of this company.

A Nossa História

LEGACY

During the 1940s, Joaquim dos Reis Marques started, on his own, in the tanning of sheep and goat skins. About twenty years later, in the year 1966, shortly after his return from military service, his son João Marques and his younger brothers, José and Humberto began to work with their father.

In 1977, the Marsipel company was formed by father and children, which will continue with the activity previously developed on an individual basis. From this date on, a new dynamic in the management of society was introduced, which led to the specialization of the manufacture of bovine skins for the footwear industry.

They could not imagine that they were laying the foundations for a group of companies that today occupies a prominent place in the Portuguese tanning industry.

Maintaining a centralized management in the family, and with the entry of the 3rd generation in the leadership of the company, the Marsipel Group has been maintaining a top position in the sector, focused on a strategy of sustained growth, permanent adaptation to the market, constant evaluation changes in the environment and the implementation of a strict financial policy.

Our mission is to transform material of animal origin (hides and skins) into timeless, resistant, comfortable products, with an aesthetic sense and multiple applications, namely in coatings for products from the footwear and leather goods industries (bags, wallets, belts, etc.). )
